Kim Morrison was born Linda Jo in San Jose California and spent most of her childhood in the San Diego area. She was the seventh of twelve children. The whole family was musical and the eight youngest formed a group with the help of their mother Dora, who sang, played guitar  and did live radio as a child. For several years the little family band performed around the area.

Kim got into her first rock band at age thirteen and after a couple of years, she joined a band called “The Centaurs” who were well established and very popular throughout much of southern California. Before long the band changed their name to “Linda and the Centaurs”  playing at clubs, dances and performing in concerts as opening act for major artists such as “The Association,” “Big Brother and the Holding Company,” “Cream”” and many others. At  age sixteen she was Miss Teen San Diego.

After graduating from high school she moved to north Hollywood and began performing at The Palomino Club with Red Rhodes. It was there that she met Tom T Hall and Bobby Bare. After coming to the club several nights they brought Mickey Newbury and Kris Kristofferson in to hear her sing. They helped bring her to Nashville when she was eighteen and she was signed to publishing, management, booking and recording contracts her first week in town. She also legally changed her name from Linda Jo to Kim at that time.

Since coming to the Music City in 1969 she has had recording contracts with Mercury Records, Jet Records, Malaco Records and several others. She also has been a professional published song writer for fifty-two years, having been a staff writer for NewKeys Music, Tree Publishing, Frank and Nancy Music, Dick James Music, Merritt Music, BMG Songs, Killen Music Group, Cal IV. Entertainment Group, Montego Bay Music, and she currently writes for Kirogo Songs., a publishing company she founded in 2003.

She has had songs recorded by Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty, Mel Tillis, Frank Sinatra Jr, Johnny Lee, Dave Dudley, Ty Herndon, Johnny Rodriguez, Vassar Clements, Irma Thomas, Johnny Adams, Jon Verity (Argent) Dickie Betts and many
others.

She also has been a successful back up singer since her arrival in Nashville and has worked in the studio and /or live with Peabo Bryson, Percy Sledge, Ray Charles, James Ingram, Michael McDonald, David Essex, Al Kooper, Billy Joe Burnette, Dickie Betts, Warren Haynes, Conway Twitty, Jeanie C Riley, Jim Ed Brown, Jeanie Seely, Jean Shepard, Terri Gibbs, Roy Orbison, Razzy Bailey, Thelma Houston, Dickie Lee, Tiny Tim, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Sammy Kershaw, Allison Moore, The Warren Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Leon Russell, Carl Perkins, T. Graham Brown, Peter Wolfe (J Geils Band) Maurice Williams, Johnny Lee, Joe Diffie, Jackson Brown, Sam Moore, Billy Preston, Isaac Hayes, B. B. King, Carla Thomas, Odetta, Frank Sinatra Jr, Leslie Satcher, Hank Williams Jr and Billy Joe Royal, to name a few.

She completed her solo project with her husband Ronnie Godfrey called “Therapy “in 2018 and she is about to release “Mixed Emotions,” a collection of Rock & Roll and R & B songs. She is also writing a book called “Goodbye Linda Jo,” which is a candid telling of her early years.

She is currently writing songs for a new Bluegrass project.

About Mixed Emotions

Mixed Emotions is a journey through a relationship starting with a curious
infatuation which leads to total and complete love! But, as it so often happens, reality begins to set in and we learn that it takes more than love to make love last. This collection of songs is near and dear to my heart and was recorded with the help of some of the most talented people in the music business!

About Therapy

It took 11 years, (longer than The Trojan War,) to make this record!

It was definitely an exercise in perseverance and faith!

I wanted to leave messages for my family and loved ones within some of these songs and some of them show what I've learned in 60 years of music in my life!

It was an honor and pure pleasure to work with the masterful Tim Kish on this project. He's the best of the best of all the engineers I've ever worked with!

The Guitar work by Rickey Godfrey, Mike Severs and Chris Leuzinger was brilliant beyond compare!

Last but certainly not least, I could spend a month listing superlatives describing Ronnie Godfrey!

He's the most brilliant writer, musician, arranger and producer I've ever worked with!

His dedication to this project went far above and beyond where normal people go!

I hope everyone who hears this enjoys the heartfelt wwork put into this by everyone involved!

Love and God bless,

Kim
